Q: Can I replace the hose in the Hoselink Retractable Hose Reel?
No, the hose cannot be replaced. The retraction mechanism installed in our hose reels must be loaded in conjunction with the hose during manufacturing. Our hose is specifically engineered to work perfectly with our spring and casing design, and no other hose will work with it.
Q: What kind of hose comes in the hose reel?
The hose that comes in the Hoselink Retractable Hose Reel is specially-designed and manufactured to work with the hose reel. It is a PVC hose free of BPA, PFAs, and lead. It is not available separately.
Q: Does the Hoselink hose get kinked?
Our hose has been specifically designed to work in our hose reel. It is soft and pliable to withstand the tension required. Additionally, the retraction mechanism on the reel keeps the hose from twisting which is a common cause of kinks. The combination of these design factors make the hose reel work efficiently, but those same characteristics keep it from kinking, too.
Q: My spigot is far away from where I want to mount my hose reel. What do I do?
You can attach your hose reel to an additional length of hose to connect the hose reel to the water supply. We sell leader hose extensions in two lengths (6.5ft & 16ft) and two colors (beige and charcoal) for this purpose.
Q: Do I have to mount the hose reel?
Yes. The Hoselink Hose Reel needs to be mounted to a wall or a post so that the tension mechanism will work properly. It can also be mounted to our Fixed Ground Mount – a horizontal mount which is sold separately.
Q: How do I mount the hose reel to my particular wall surface?
The Hoselink Hose Reel can be mounted to a wide variety of materials and siding types. Here is our guide and recommendations:

Q: I am going to mount my hose reel to a post. How deep does the post need to be in the ground?
At a minimum, we recommend your post be installed at least 24” deep, with a 12” diameter for the concrete to provide enough resistance against the hose reel. If your soil is loose, you may consider preparing a deeper, wider hole for your post. Because our hose can be very heavy when filled with water and is cantilevered by design, always plan for a deep hole with adequate concrete.
Q: Can I use my hose reel with a hot water source?
No. We don’t recommend using the Hoselink with hot water. The maximum water temperature is 100°F.
Q: Is it ok to leave my faucet turned on all the time?
We recommend turning the water off at the spigot between uses. Leaving the hose consistently under full water pressure may add unnecessary stress on the internal parts of the hose reel.
